(yet another) HV20 upside down

(yet another) HV20 upside down

My rig - nothing particular:

- Brevis with Canon FD lenses
- 60cm rods
- HV20 mounted upside down
- cheapo 8" car-tft as monitor
- (extremely) cheap tripod (saving for a Manfrotto)

=> Fun!

Only thing worth mentioning probably is the "homebuilt" spacer tube
between the achromat and the (one piece) step-down ring, made
from an old, battered 72mm UV-Filter (just took out the filter-glass).
Without this I had severe problems focusing on the diffusor.

Moe,
Do you find that monitor actually has enough res to get HD focus?

I'm taking delivery of my Brevis next week and I'm really sweating how I'm going to focus. I can't rely on the built-in LCD at all, even without the adapter. I also don't have another $1k to spend on a monitor right now.

Monitor

New postby Moritz Schwind on Fri Oct 26, 2007 1:49 pm

It takes some practice, however after about one week of casual use (university is taking most of my time...) it is absolutely possible to focus with it - however there's still lots of headroom for improving image quality on the monitor as it is only connected via composite right now - it has however inputs for s-video and vga as well.

Has anybody here some hints/ experinece on converters that i could use for hooking this thing up (either component => s-video or component => vga oder hdmi => vga) ???

The monitor's panel itself has a physical resolution of 800 x 480 - same as all othe on camera monitors used for HD monitoring...

Anyways - you should still be able to pull focus with composite input, as the HV20 has focus assist, that allows you to zoom into the image for perfect focus alignment...

Try this to go component from the camera to VGA on the monitor:
