HV20 upside down mounted

HV20 upside down mounted

- It's more easy to handle it in FCP 6, because I have not to turn the footage in FCP and the previews are also in the upright position. The flip is correct left and right.

- Meanwhile I use the LCD with a HDMI cable. The monitor comes with a DVI/HDMI adapter.

- I only bought a 15mm aluminum tube in a home depot shop. Everything else came with the Brevis gear

- the only practical problem is the battery. I have to remove the camcorder from the baseplate to change it. javascript:emoticon(':?')

Rolf, that is nice! Just the setup I've been looking for... is it correct flip, up and down - left and right?

The B&W really adds to the Frankenstein-ness. hehe

It looks pretty solid.

These are the pics I was supposed to post 2 weeks ago. That's pretty much exactly what we intended with the rails system and the HV20 Rolf. Nice!

What is the attachment being used to hang the HV20?

What's the tripod head? I need to find a reasonably priced (okay, inexpensive) fluid head that can support the camera, adapter and a prime (28,50,80)

That's our standard baseplate, turned 180 degrees, raised and supported by a standard 5/8" grip rod. Our rails are all designed to allow this sort of flexibility :-)

XL2 upside down?

New postby Benji Newell on Fri Aug 03, 2007 10:41 pm

Can this same sort of upside down mount be accomplised with an XL2 (with the 2.5in EFV removed)? I own an XL2 and am considering purchasing the Brevis package with rails and support, but would be a hastle to flip everything in post...if anyone has any ideas please let me know, thanks!

Benji, any camera can be mounted inverted but if larger than the HV20, you'd need an extra universal rails block, and set of 30cm rails. We've got a large quantity of the universal rails blocks designed for 5/8" stainless which you can also use. I'll get the XH-A1 mounted upside down along with the HV20 and post pics to illustrate.

Pelican Case

New postby Tom Waugh on Fri Aug 10, 2007 7:17 pm

Nice one Rolf.
Are those 45cm or 60cm rails?
How long is the whole rig?
I'm getting an hv20 and brevis set up (THIS WEEK!!!! well...assuming the AUS dollar strengthens up abit, has fallen from $0.91 CAD to $0.88 for every AUS dollar.......don't forget my promised free cap in my order dennis! haha :) ) and am getting a pelican case for it but i need to know how long it is so I can get the right case.

Is anyone storing their setups ready to roll in the pelican case to minimise set up time?

Cheers, Tom

I ment how deep/high your rig is?, not the length....because I can tell the length by the rails length.

Nice Rig

New postby Michael Panfeld on Sat Aug 18, 2007 7:21 pm

HI Rolf: nice setup. Can you share the model/make of the monitor and the monitoe mount? Also do you have a profile shot from the other side (i.e., without the battery blocking the setup? Thanks

Just got my rig today. Yay for me!

Anyhow, I need to do almost exactly this, except I'm also mounting a Beachtek XLR mixer.

So, just to be clear, the longer aluminum tube to allow the HV20 to hang off of the standard baseplate is 15mm, or a "5/8" grip rod" and I should be able to grab this at a Home Depot?

LCD?

New postby Zak Melms on Tue Jan 29, 2008 2:25 am

I really like your rig, it looks much simpler than most inverted HV20 operations. My question is what is the specific brand and model of your LCD with HDMI input? I checked Varizoom and they don't make such a monitor. Thanks, Zak

It actually looks like he converted HDMI to Component. Notice the three plugs plugged into the back of the monitor!

On Camera LCD Monitor

New postby Zak Melms on Wed Jan 30, 2008 1:32 am

I think I have figured it out. The monitor is an Ikan V-8000HD, it has composite and component inputs and can pass the signal through to additional monitors or whatever you like. I have read good things about it.

Really interested in how you mounted the HV20 upside down and how long those rails are.

We'll have these parts in the catalog likely next week, including pre-cut grip rod. The parts you see here are from our old rails system.

Just send an email to sales@cinevate.com with the current username and what we should change it to.
