7D + DSLR Shoulder Rig = Success

New postby Robin Morgan on Tue Jan 05, 2010 7:04 am

This is the first shoot since I met Dennis at the Still-Motion Evolution.
We used the Pegasus "Heavy Lifter" and the Digital SLR Shoot Rig. All lenses had the Follow Focus Gear Ring which proves great with or without the Durus. Unfortunately the Durus stayed in the boot (trunk) for most of the wedding day, this is mainly due to the way I work.

Robin, great to see your post here. It's very obvious that you're working on "telling the story" and it's good man! The shot at 00:42 was pretty magical in that light.

Cheers mate!
Dennis.

Some great shots in there!
You really can't beat the colors these dSLRs can capture.

My only nitpicking complaint is the juddery motion... not as noticeable (or more overlooked?) in online videos, but it really stands out on a television. I think one more generation and I'll make the switch.

Hi Robin,

good stuff!

How did you find the Still Motion course? Been thinking of going myself.

Also how was the Pegasus? Have used a glidetrack but getting fed up with it sticking and having to repeat shots all the time.

Maybe PM me if you don't think it's right place to discuss re the Still Motion Evo course :)

cheers

Dave

Thanks Dave, Jon and Dennis!

The Still Motion course was great, not only was it really useful but inspiring too. I think everything learnt can easily be moulded and adapted for the uk/irish market. The SM team are an amazing bunch, not only a learning experience but a real journey. For me personally Konrad "made" the workshop, so passionate, so talented and really good at what he does! My work post-evo has changed dramatically.

The Pegasus was my first ever linear tracker and I absolutely love it. Its interesting to hear about "sticking" problems with other brands as I've never even thought that it may be a problem - I know that might sound strange, but what use is a dolly that sticks? Frustrating I'm sure, you get one chance at a live event, especially weddings, the quality and build of The Pegasus is superb. In short - worth every penny, ditch that glidetrack.

Any question don't hesitate.

Cheers, Rob.
